NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not affiliated with Oakland County, Michigan, or any federal government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). It is a public-reference resource, not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.
1. What This Website Is
This is a private reference site with no government connection. It does not store official records, submit filings, retrieve records, or conduct official checks.
Its role is to identify Oakland County custodians, including the sheriff, criminal courts, Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center, and Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry, and to provide access to outside research tools.
Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs requests to public bodies, while MCL 28.728c governs information permitted in the public sex offender registry. Those laws do not make this private site a government record custodian.
2. Rules for Using This Site
By using the site, you agree not to:
- Use content for hiring, housing, lending, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated decision
- Stalk, threaten, intimidate, or harass any person
- Use an automated scraper, bot, or similar collection tool
- Attempt unauthorized access to the site or its systems
- Disrupt service or interfere with another visitor's access
- Violate any applicable federal, Michigan, or local law
3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination
Information found here or through a linked tool must not be used to stalk, threaten, harass, intimidate, or discriminate against anyone. Michigan law specifically restricts misuse of Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry data. MCL 28.730 provides civil and criminal consequences for prohibited conduct. Registry information supports public safety awareness, not vigilantism.
4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency
We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not prepare consumer reports, credit reports, or official background checks. Neither we nor an advertising partner offers a tool designed for a regulated eligibility decision. You must not use site or linked data to:
- Make an employment decision
- Evaluate a housing application
- Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
- Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
- Carry out any other purpose regulated by the FCRA
A regulated background check must come from an appropriate FCRA-compliant provider or an authorized official process through Michigan State Police.
5. No Legal Advice
Site content is not legal advice. General Oakland County record information cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, or Michigan set-aside rule applies to one case. Consult a licensed Michigan attorney for legal advice.
6. No Warranties
All content and services are provided "as is." We do not promise that:
- The site will operate without interruption
- Partner results will be complete or accurate
- Every page is free from defects or security flaws
- Published information is always complete, current, or correct
Charges, outcomes, and set-aside status can change. Information may therefore contain gaps or become stale. Nothing published here is an official statement by a court, sheriff, or government agency.
7. Third-Party Services and Links
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court portals, Michigan agencies, legal organizations, or outside search services. We do not control a destination's content, fees, privacy practices, availability, or terms. Review its rules before using it.
8. Intellectual Property
Oakland County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Written permission is required before copying, adapting, or distributing that material.
9. Limits on Our Liability
To the broadest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for damage arising from use of the site or reliance on information obtained here or through a linked service.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold us harmless against claims, actions, and demands caused by your use of the site or violation of these terms, including related legal costs.
11. Governing Law
Michigan law governs these terms. A dispute arising from site use must be brought in a court located in Michigan.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these terms. A change takes effect when the updated text is posted on this page.
13. Cutting Off Access
We may restrict or end access at any time, for any reason, without prior notice.
14. Severability
If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms stay effective. The affected part will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.
15. Questions
Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
