Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates the tool. That company processes the query and supplies its response. We do not keep or log those terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email sent to us as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may automatically receive technical details about that visit:
- Page-view times and the pages visited
- Your device type and operating system
- The referring website, when available
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Visit duration for individual pages
- The browser type and version
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic data, such as which pages are often visited and where sessions end. A browser can block cookies, though disabling them may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected partner
- Maintaining site availability and page speed
- Diagnosing and repairing technical faults
- Measuring which pages visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Oakland County guidance identifies records held by the sheriff, courts, Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center, and Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a file about another person. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. A partner's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices apply to data entered in its tool. We do not control those rules. Review them before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links lead to sheriff pages, court portals, Michigan agencies, legal resources, and outside tools. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy terms apply. Read those terms before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to track activity across sites for targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a query sent through their tool
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Standard safeguards are used for information we collect. No internet system can guarantee absolute security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy or consumer law may provide additional rights based on residence. Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs access to records of public bodies, not private-site visitor data. MCL 28.728c governs public Michigan registry information. Subject to the law that applies, you may:
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Ask for access to personal data held about you
- Opt out of some forms of processing where available
- Request deletion when the applicable law provides that choice
